2021 Lexus IS redesign brings more sportiness and features to the IS lineup

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lexus was forced to launch the new 2021 IS sedan virtually. That didn't stop us from having our eyes glued to our screens to see what the fourth generation of the model, which debuted in 2000, had in store for us.

Let's see what this new version offers for the next year.

An evolved style

The latest IS sedan still carried a modern style, despite the fact that it has been on the market for six years. As a result, Lexus didn't have to reinvent its style, just tweak it. And that's exactly what they did.

The new generation offers an equally imposing grille and the model shown sported magnificent 19-inch wheels whose chrome finish changes color according to the angle one takes to admire them. Another interesting element, the taillights that feature a red stripe that goes the length of the trunk lid. The effect is spectacular. Finally, we also notice a very sharp design at the height of the rear wings; the IS sedan will be recognizable from all angles.

As for the versions, the range remains unchanged with the IS 300 FWD, the IS 300 with all-wheel drive, as well as the IS 350 AWD. The engine lineup remains unchanged as well. The latter consists of a 2.0-liter, 241-horsepower 4-cylinder turbo engine (IS 300 FWD), as well as a 3.5-liter V6 that is tuned in two different ways; 260 and 311 horsepower (IS 300 AWD and IS 350 AWD, respectively). With the 4-cylinder engine, there is an eight-speed automatic transmission while a six-speed gearbox teams up with the V6 engine.

Finally, in terms of technology, the model is evolving beautifully inside. In particular, we are entitled to a multimedia screen which has been placed closer to the driver for easier access. Lexus also provides improved connectivity with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. And when it comes to safety, the LSS + 2.5 (Lexus Safety System) stands out with a host of safety features certain to ensure ultra-safe travel.
